New Ways of Seeing, Working and Learning

From 1999 till 2010 was Co:Inpetto a recruitment cabinet for IT professionals and business consultants. Co:Inpetto had the biggest contactdatabase of IT professionals and business consultants for the Flemish Market in Belgium.

As an economist I learned about digitisation thanks to the conversations I had with professionals and clients and by organising the digital communication with candidates and clients.
I loved to do this.

Because personal data was core of my business I became aware of the opportunities thanks to privacy by design early on (2007) and the positive impact digital technology could make.

Yes, there is a fork in the road. Listen to this podcast digital justice. Wouldn’t it be great to contribute to a positive future enabled by a responsible digital infrastructure ? It is possible. Spread the news about the opportunity of a Threefold year !

Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do.

Time Registration System

As an HR person – I have implemented a new time registration system to escape classical working patterns. It sounds like a contradictio in terminis. But it isn’t. We’re freeing data of the workers from 1 company. Workers are able to check in by neigbours as well. Because together we shape better jobs.

Don't be busy. Just be productive.

The transactions of this new collaboration will be managed at nearly zero cost. A shared and smart contract enables the payrolling and billing for participating companies.

P.S.: But let me admit something. The cluster of companies I am working for is not so far of the Zimmer Tower (Lier). What is time ? – is questioned at the Zimmer Museum and it is kept unanswered (and I have the answer neither).

Certified Blockchain Professional Program

Weconomics Foundations’ focus for 2019 is the Certified Blockchain Professional Program. It is offered in Dutch. I appreciate the iniative very much because it will lead to meaningful and succesful implementations of technology.

Do you know someone who could be interested to follow the program ?
Are you interested ? More information can be found here (dutch only).

Education is for improving the lives of others and for leaving your community and world better than you found it.

P.S.: From now on we add a social card to our posts, a social card with the hand picked quote. These quotes remind us to why we are doing what we do, a quote that keep us motivated and focused on our purpose and values. Feel free to share it.

Congratulations, You Have The Job ! – (the beauty of a well designed consensus mechanism)

I’ve taken up a teaching assignment: explain Blockchain for 18 year old youngsters. I loved to do it. By getting back to the basics I found the key to explain the beauty of blockchain as simple as possible. Satoshi Nakamoto solved issues of the Byzantine Generals’ Problem and proofed that consensus between parties can be supported by a computional network.

On my way home I start realizing that one of my first employers was inspired by the meaning of the word consenus and has choosen Konsensus as its company name. Konsensus was a recruitment cabinet for financial positions. We earned private data and missions – day after day. Agreements between employers and candidates were crafted with care and professionalism – day after day.

A craftmanship that is disrupted by the first generation of digitized business models. Data became available for gambling in the matching business – everywhere. No permissions seemed to be needed – despite data laws. The poor-data-speedy-matching-bubble-gambling-game is a dead end game. It has led to a bad functioning market. It is a dead end game.

Too much stories behind data are lost and not valued. We can do far better. As said in previous post – I do believe HR is a valuable place to be thanks to the potential of blockchain organising.

We’ve learned that we’ve allowed technological capabilities to dictate policies and practices, rather than ensuring that our laws and values guide our technological capabilities. –Edward Snowden

HR is at the edge of every organisation (a valuable place to be)

HR is a function on the edge of any organisation. HR connects talent from the in- and outside world to organisational tasks. They are in contact with serveral operational service providers like pay-rolling. They are at the cross road of data exchange between organisations (with the individual as smallest part).

Thanks to the innovation space of a well governance shared digital infrastructure, HR is in the position to design and manage careers in a far better ways. Ways that favors the well being of the indivual and the productivity of organisations.

Paul Bessems (founder of www.weconomics.org) invites HR professionals to take up a role for transition to sphere 4 (see picture below).

Seth Godin’s Permission Marketing, GDPR and Alignment of Interests

In 1999 I started in the business of recruitment of IT Professionals and business consultants. While setting up the business, I was very inspired by the work of Seth Godin to reach out to potential candidates and clients.

I read Seth Godin’s book on permission marketing and started to apply the proposed principles rigorously towards registered candidates. I can tell, the principles of permission marketing supported high quality connections for important stuff in life ( – like having meaningful work is – ). After years of hard work – 30.000 potential candidates were registered.

But there was a fork in the road for the work that Co:Inpetto was taking up.
The playing field was getting designed for a privacy disaster and imbalance of interests between stakeholders due to dysfunctional business models. While a huge opportunity for much better design was (and still is) also a choice.

Fork in the road ?
Let’s Take The High Road.

It feels good that have read one of my first professional hero’s today. Seth Godin writes about the GDPR and the marketers dilemma. Read his blog here. In the podcast included Seth Godin talks about media, our culture, aligning interests and our responsibility to create the culture we want. It feels like coming home.

Thanks to initiatives like Threefold Foundation and Weconomics Foundations, everybody is able to have impact. We share how. Step in when your opportunity and values could be aligned and leveraged.

Our Story started in 1999

Co:Inpetto is founded in 1999, the days internet was entering the business world. Co:Inpetto worked as a recruitment cabinet for business consultants and IT’ers. We served IT departments of big organisations and some fast growing IT and business consulting companies.

The market of connecting talent to challenges became a problematic market, a market with wicked problems. For candidates and companies services weren’t transparant. High fees were paid and poor quality was delivered. A pointless competition was going on.

I came up with concepts for ‘own your own data’ services in 2005 as a condition for privacy management, better engagement and new business models with stakeholders. I networked towards governments, federations and innovation partners (financiers, clients and other recruitment businesses) and we prototyped.
